2014 High Dive Napa Valley

95 points ... 'Slate, graphite and tobacco influence the juicy black plum and plum skin tannins. The wonderful acidity allows for food pairing abilities across the board. Pedigreed and elegant. '

94 points  'Four Bordeaux varieties come together in this deep colored, rich blend; smooth, rich and juicy with toasty oak, spice and refined structure; elegant and deep with lovely ripe plum and berry fruit; balanced and long.'

Anthony Dias Blue December 2017

90 points  'Plush and polished with plenty of continuous black cherry fruit immediately appealing effort that, while nicely balanced and sporting a fine tannic substructure, is outgoing and wholly approachable right now.'

Connoisseurs' Guide December 2017

The Carneros and Oakville growing areas in the Napa Valley saw near-ideal weather for critical periods of the 2014 vintage. The vintage started off with generous winter rains which quickly broke with an unusually warm, early spring.

This set-up resulted in early bud break, moist soils and wonderful shoot extension, which proved advantageous for shading the delicate fruit in an extended heat spike in early July. Consistently warm summer temperatures allowed the grapes to mature steadily and develop complex flavors, resulting in elegant wines that couple brightness and a wonderful depth of flavor.

Beautiful floral aromatics of red cassis. Rich notes of strawberries and crushed blackberries, along with subtle background tones of clove and white pepper. Rich, plush mouthfeel with sweet dark currant and blackberry fruit. Fabulous density and weight, with excellent texture. Bold and complex, with hints of dark chocolate and espresso. A long subtle finish with focus and purity.
